La Divina Commedia is back but this time as a dark fantasy ARPG with hack & slash combat, announced live during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 by the team behind Enotria: The Last Song.
Gamescom ONL had plenty of heavy hitters (Resident Evil Requiem, Black Myth: Zhong Kui), but Jyamma Games managed to carve out a spotlight with a reveal rooted in Italian culture and literature.
La Divina Comedia: A Dark Reimagining of Dante’s Vision
After their successful debut with Enotria: The Last Song in 2024, the Milan-based studio Jyamma Games now turns to Italy’s most legendary poet, Dante Alighieri.
Their new project reimagines La Divina Commedia not as literature, but as a brutal, visually rich dark fantasy ARPG.
Here, the epic poem isn’t just history —it’s the foundation of a world where La Divina Commedia replaces old faith, shaping a golden age of righteousness.
Until, of course, the promises of the poem are corrupted by dark forces, plunging humanity into chaos.
Gameplay Features and Systems
In La Divina Commedia, players take the role of a poet-warrior, condemned to descend through the circles of Hell and face increasingly powerful demons. The goal? To redeem a past of sin
Key gameplay highlights include:
- Weapon-specific mechanics that change how each combat style plays
- Procedurally generated dungeons for fresh runs every time
- An alignment system linked to the Seven Deadly Sins
- Crafting and forging weapons/armor to shape your strategy
The studio promises a narrative deeply enriched by Dante’s verses, with players able to choose between a male or female character and tailor their playstyle.
